   This pad is over 50 dollars. If your like me and coughed at the price tag because your use to buying the cheap sunbeam/walmart type heating pads, let me tell you, I’m now a believer.

   To the reviewer that said this pad doesn’t get hot enough, either something is wrong with your pad or you have some really thick skin. This pad gets hot, and its a deep moist hot, something those cheap pads can’t match. This feels more like you’ve soaked your muscles in a hot tub of water but better! The pad is also heavy which is awesome because it really lays against your body.

   I lay this on the back of my sofa when my back is bothering me and I lay back against it. If I had a thin shirt on I’d have to agree with the reviewer who says it gets to hot! However if I wear say a nice cotton t-shirt of reasonable quality, I can make it through the treatment. It depends on my level of pain, the worse my back hurts the more heat I can take. By the time my heat treatment is over, my back muscles are literally throbbing. It feels really amazing.

   I also lay this over over my shoulders and the back of my neck when I get really tense and this loosens me up nicely.

   The pad is really heavy duty construction. Like I said above this isn’t a cheap pad and you can tell that just holding it in your hand. This pad is the automatic pad. You basically have a on and off button and then there is 4 or 5 green lights that light up on the on/off control. The hotter the pad gets the more lights come on. Once the pad reaches its peak heating temp, it grandualy cools back down and this is also reflected with the light display. I myself didn’t want to worry with a manual switch and this worked out just right for me.

   If you suffer from back pain, muscle tension or anything else that feels better when heat is applied, then get this. Its pricey but it is worth every cent!

   The heating pad really works well and the moist heat penetrates deep! It feels great to be able to just relax and not have to worry about the timer also as this unit has the 20 minute cycle and will shutoff if you do not reset the cycle again.
   
   The processing and delivery of the product was excellent as Isokinetics was able to give me the Fedex tracking info when I called and they delivered it that day! Thanks Amazon, my back thanks you too!

   I have one of each size of the thermaphore. They are wonderful with the moist heat that they put out. The neck size arthritic one is a little different from the others I have. This one has a timed on/off switch, and because of that, the heat is not as intense. That being said, the heat is still more moist and intense than other heating pads. This one also, being as narror as it is, allows you to wrap it around and elbow, neck or knee.

   I am so disappointed in this product. It sells itself as automatic, but it is NOT. You have to manually hold down the button to get it to produce heat. Who wants to have to hold down a button to get it to work? There were versions sold as manual that described this. I purposely looked for one that was automatic to avoid having to hold down a button non-stop to get it to work. This product was sold as an automatic version (even the box says automatic). Having to hold down a button non-stop to get it to work doesn’t qualify as automatic in my opinon. I feel like I have been misled. I am very disappointed. I can only imagine use of this item on a regular basis would be very uncomfortable, defeating the point of trying to releave tension. Do not purchase this if you are truly looking for a hands-free item (beyond initially turning it on).

   I am a massage therapist and recently purchased the 14″ x 27″ (black box) Thermaphore by Battle Creek (the 14″ x 27″ covers a large area of the body on most people). It can easily be set for a 20 minute heat cycle by the push of a single button and heats up fast with MOIST heat, then begins cooling towards the end of the cycle. The Thermaphore reduces muscle tension so much that it allows me to accomplish therapeutically much more in a session than I’d be able to otherwise. My massage clients love it!
